Restore Training is a combination of different courses we’ve compiled on the subjects of sex trafficking, sexual abuse, spiritual warfare and restoration. All of the courses are either online or based on a manual you can have shipped to your home. All of the books can be ordered online and read at home or listened to via audiobook. None of our training requires a specific location. (Two exceptions are the Advanced certificate requirements of Bible School and Long Term Orientation in New York City at the Ministry Training Center.)

Good wifi or a data plan is suggested, since some of the training videos are online. Most of the videos are on-demand and can be watched at your convenience. Some can be downloaded to be watched later. Our Hands That Heal webinar is a required course for all certificate levels. It is hosted live and requires active trainee participation. Hands That Heal is typically planned for the second week of October.

You will also need access to a printer, since some of the online courses have homework or notes to print out as you complete the course. Most of your homework will need to be emailed to your coach either through photos of your homework or documents emailed from your computer.

Restore Training has no physical base but is operated online through Google Drive. Our team is from NYC, Pennsylvania, Ontario, Quebec, Kenya, and Spain. Most of our meetings are done through Zoom, hence much of Restore’s training is done via Zoom calls, webinars and Google Drive with all our documents accessible online. We have two on-location requirements for Restore’s Advanced certificate: 6 weeks of Bible School at an approved school and Long Term Orientation in New York City at the Ministry Training Center.

Restore Training has one 7½ month term per year. The term begins in September and ends in April. The application for the next term opens in December.

We will assemble your application and complete an interview with you and a coach in the spring or summer. If you are accepted into the program, you may purchase and read the first two books before term begins: Rethinking Sexuality by Juli Slattery and Released From Shame by Sandra Wilson. A three-paragraph summary report will be required on each book, so keep that in mind as you read.

Restore Training requires $300 for the term tuition. There is a $50 non-refundable application fee and the remaining $250 will be required at orientation.

After the tuition payment, all the further monies listed are purchases made on your own to individual courses and organizations. For instance, you will purchase your own Light University courses and Equipped to Serve manuals. Some of the courses are free. We estimate the cost of each book at $20, but you typically may purchase gently-used books for much less or access them free from your local library. The total amount listed for your certificate is the accumulated amount of the tuition plus all the purchases for courses and books.

Term runs from mid-September to the end of April. This will give you 7½ months to complete the requirements for Restore Training.

Obviously, the Basic certificate requires about half as many hours as Intermediate. For the Basic, you should aim for 4 hours per week. For the Intermediate, you will need to set aside approximately 8 hours per week. Because the Advanced requires Long Term Orientation (during set dates) and Bible School (during set dates), we would suggest completing the Restore courses during term while you have a coach available. We recommend that Bible School and Long Term Orientation be completed before or after the term.

The motivations behind requiring a Bible School attendance for the Advanced certificate are:

• To create stability in the Anabaptist faith
• To build network and relationships
• To live in close proximity to others for an extended period of time
• To be discipled by older mentors and teachers
• To absorb further teaching by Anabaptist teachers

Occasionally a trainee will apply for the Advanced certificate and already has Bible School experience completed. This will be automatically accepted if done recently at Sharon Mennonite Bible Institute, Elnora Bible Institute, Faith Builders, IGo (Institute for Global Opportunities),or Sent 1 (CCM Global). Consideration will be given to other Bible School experiences, based on whether they are Anabaptist, at least 6 weeks, and in-person. We highly suggest that Bible School and LTO be completed before or after the Restore Training term. You may choose to work on Restore during Bible School and/or LTO, but the workload may prove challenging.

No matter what decision is made about the timing of LTO and Bible School, the Restore curriculum and coach will only be available until the end of term, at which the Restore courses and books are required to be completed for certification. You can complete Bible School and LTO before or after term, and your certificate will be issued after you complete all of the requirements

Restore Training is simply a training platform to equip you to enter the ministry of your choice. Some of our trainees already know what field they are entering before they start the program. Some know they want to care for vulnerable people, but are unsure where. Maybe you already know what opportunity you are headed for, or maybe you would love for Restore to make a suggestion or present you with an opportunity during training.

Occasionally opportunities get shared with Restore, and we pass them on to our trainees, especially our alumni. We keep a running list of current openings in ministries where our training would be vital. You may request access to that list through your coach or someone from the Restore Admin Team. If you would like someone to walk with you through examining your calling, giftings and interests with the goal of stepping into ministry, we want to be available to do that.
